Karin Binder has been practicing as a registered trademark agent in Canada since 2008. Prior to becoming a registered trademark agent, she worked for several years in the areas of intellectual property, including patents and trademarks, both in Canada and Switzerland.

Karin is experienced at all levels of trademark work, including trademark clearance, filing strategies, prosecution, opposition and non-use cancellation proceedings, as well as issues regarding licensing, assignment, security interest and domain name disputes.

Her clients include small business owners, multinational corporations as well as international intellectual property counsel. She has been fortunate to help client protect their trademarks and manage their portfolios in over 165 jurisdictions.

She has a keen passion for education and has been involved with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) education programs for a number of years. She is currently involved with the Trademark Agent Examination Preparation course as well as helping create the new certification course for Trademark Administrators. Furthermore, she has served as Assistant Director and Director of the McGill/IPIC "Understanding Trademarks - An Introductory Course" (2012 and 2013).

Also, Karin is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and has been appointed to the Harmonization of Trademark Law and Practice Committee (Classification Subcommittee).

Karin is fluent in English and German and is currently learning Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys an outdoor lifestyle, particularly mountain biking and trail running.
